plus one {phoenix, family photographer}

baby.  bliss.  addition.

What I love about my job is how I get to travel the country and see cool area’s while shooting amazing clients.  My summer months are filled with new cities which opens my eyes up to great scenery.  In the first month I have visited Cleveland, Cincy, Indianapolis, San Diego and Flagstaff with a trip to Hawaii in the next few days.  So while Phoenix is HOT I go to the right spots!!  Amanda and Steve live here in Phoenix with me but as Steve said “Bun in the Oven is just an expression. We don’t really need to cook the little guy.” so off to Flagstaff we headed.  It is such a cute town in Northern Arizona and about 25 degrees cooler!  I had a great time with these two and I can not wait to meet their new addition!

fun in ohio {phoenix, family photographer}

laughter. laughter. laughter.

My session with the Shotwells is filled with TONS OF LAUGHTER.  They are a family that loves to have fun with one another and are not afraid to act goofy.  I seem to always forget that I am ‘working’ when taking their pics because I am laughing right along with them!  I feel so lucky that I get amazing clients and get to capture their lives!

summer fun {phoenix, family photographer}

sun.  time.  memories.

Looking back at summer when I was a kid, I am flooded with memories of freedom, laughter, water, and good times.  Whenever asked what one of my favorite things to do when a kid it would have been riding on our boat.  At the end of the day after being on the water, feeling exhausted and a little sun burned my sister and I would climb to the front of the boat cover ourselves with blankets and let our dad drive us slowly home.  It made me feel safe, protected and loved.  So when the Kleins asked me to come to their lake house I was ALL OVER IT!! I love that I got to document them enjoying their life and it makes me happy to know exactly the fond memories these little boys will have being able to spend family time together.

chelsea + dionte {phoenix, engagement session}

love.  laughter.  joy.

When I was done shooting Chelsea and Dionte my first thought was – ‘WOW!! They really like each other.’  That might sound weird, since this was their engagement session.  But this was different, not only could you see the love, you could see that they enjoyed each other.  They laughed, they flirted, they had fun and they loved.  These type of sessions make me so happy and just so excited to shoot their wedding.  Congrats you two!

spring in bloom {phoenix, family photographer}

I got a text from my sister the other day, that was complaining about not having any new blog posts lately.  I had not even realized that the last session I shared was two months ago.  There has been a lot of change in 2014 and only see things getting better and better.  I have moved to downtown Phoenix this past month (which is why I have been too busy to blog), a location that I have wanted to live in for a while.  There are some amazing areas down here, some history and cultural, everything I have been looking for.  Downtown Phoenix is a small compared to other large cities, here most everything is spread out.  But what I am digging about where I live now, is that it feels like a community.  I love that while I was shooting this session A.) it was in walking distance of where I live and B.) while we were out taking pictures I saw a friend riding her bike to go get dinner.  This makes me happy.  Anyway back to this session, this gorgeous family and I walked around our neighborhood (they are my neighbors now!) and found some great spots.  It is spring time right now, colors are out in full force, and let me tell you the smells are amazing… there are citrus trees blooming, honeysuckle and I always forget the name of the plant but it smells like grape gum!  Looking forward to many more shoots in the next few weeks to capture all this greatness!
